Sorry I have been silent for the past few days but it seems I needed to be rebuilt; not me personally, but my system. I was told that it ‘fell over’ on Thursday night and it’s taken some time to stand it up again. I really find it hard to understand all this technical jargon! So, although not fully fixed, some of my system is now working and I am back on-line.
Over the past few years I have been to several conferences and lectures where I have thought that the presenter should have a label hanging round their neck saying, ‘Warning! May cause drowsiness!’. I am pleased to say that wasn’t the case on Friday when we were fortunate enough to be addressed by David Thomas.
David is a Grand Master of Memory and holds various records for his feats of memory. He is also an inspirational speaker and very happy to share his techniques. Everyone I spoke to on Friday was hugely impressed with him and thoroughly enjoyed his presentation, which was highly entertaining as well as educational. Several colleagues thought that the session was the best staff training they had ever had .
David is a natural teacher with a down-to-earth style and his achievements are all the more remarkable when you realise he was a failure at school and had a very difficult childhood.
Several of the business audience who saw him in the afternoon seminar have asked when he is coming back over. They want to tell their colleagues, friends and families to come along and hear him. So, we are talking about bringing him back over in either September or October to do more work with us on his techniques, and also to spread the word around more schools and businesses.
By then he should have been to Singapore to start the initiative he mentioned to us during his presentation on Friday. It will be very interesting to hear how that progresses.
